Quy Mill Hotel, Cambridge. The Programme Delivery Team met in early July to reflect on all activities of the 2018/19 Pre-reg Pharmacist Training Programme and create draft plans for the 2019/20 training year ahead. The team reflected on feedback from trainees regarding study sessions at residential events and outcomes of on-line learner surveys regarding the overall training experiences during the year. The feedback was very positive overall and the team are optimistic that this will be reflected in the outcome of the 2019 GPhC assessment. NHS and UEA School of Pharmacy colleagues joined the afternoon discussions to provide their feedback on proposed plans for 2019/20.
Novotel Hotel, London Stansted. Our 2019 Excellence Awards Day was attended by the 75 trainees and 30 invited colleagues from hospitals in the East of England, London and Sussex. It was a very successful day that celebrated the hard work and achievements of our 2018/19 trainee cohort. All trainees gave presentations on a diversity of topics, including clinical audit results and experiences/learning outcomes from undertaking innovative placements such as 13-week longitudinal placements on hospital wards or 4 to 8-week placements at GP practices. 100% Pass rate for 2017/18 trainees! All 75 2017/18 trainees who took the June and/or September 2018 GPhC assessment were successful and registered with the GPhC. A record 76% of this cohort have secured Band 6 pharmacist posts in the NHS.
The 2018/19 residential study programme starts with a 2-day Induction event to be held at the Holiday Inn, Basildon.We look forward to welcoming all 77 new trainees to the programme!
As part of professional development, several members of the UEA Pre-reg Programme Delivery Team attended the 12th International Life Long Learning in Pharmacy Conference (LLLP) in Brisbane, Australia. The event brought together international and national colleagues with interest and research to share in the area of pharmacy education and professional development. Our team presented innovative work on inter-professional learning in the workplace, structured block placements at GP practices and support tools for cross-sector placements in community pharmacy.
73 of 76 trainees who took the assessment passed achieving a pass rate of 96% for the East of England training programme.This is an outstanding result and congratulations to all!The national pass rate was 79% (2318/2942).

9 of 10 trainees who took the September GPhC assessment passed achieving a pass rate of 90%. The national pass rate was 58.3% (481/825). Our east of England trainees achieved an overall pass rate of 98.6% (73/74) which is an outstanding result! Congratulations to all!
Induction event - 7-8 August 2017The 2017/18 residential study programme starts with a 2-day Induction event to be held at the High Leigh Conference Centre, Hoddesdon. A detailed programme will be circulated to the new trainee cohort in late July 2017.
The GPhC announced the results on Friday 28 July 2017. 64 of our 71 trainees, who were eligible to take the assessment passed achieving a pass rate of 90.1%. This was a disappointing result but still nearly 12% higher than he national pass rate of 78.2% (2208/2823). We would like to congratulate the 64 trainees who passed and wish them all the best for their future careers!
