Our programme aims to provide trainees with high quality learning experiences with emphasis on direct application of knowledge and skills in practice. It follows innovative learning approaches that support all learning styles and covers all the topics pharmacy graduates need to become registered pharmacists.
The programme consists of a series of residential study blocks which provide opportunities for:
• Group-based interactive learning facilitated by expert practitioners
• GPhC style mock assessments with comprehensive feedback
• Networking/social interactions with other trainee pharmacists in the East of England
Residential study is supported by a Virtual Learning Environment hosted on UEA Blackboard.
This is used:
• as a portal for announcements and information sharing
• as a repository of learning resources from each study session
• to access on-line quizzes and mock GPhC style assessments
Our trainees report high levels of satisfaction and consistently achieve excellent pass rates in the GPhC registration assessment.
“It was great to be part of the East of England training programme run by the UEA. It was like being back at university life with lots of interactive lectures and excellent case studies. It provided a good bridge from university to full-time work as a pharmacist”
“We were given lots of support by the UEA pre-reg programme team. I really enjoyed meeting pre-reg trainees from many other hospitals and learning how different trusts manage different situations. I also enjoyed the interactive teaching sessions by experts with lots of case studies. The programme was well organised and we covered lots of relevant topics within a short time.”
“The UEA training programme was amazing! Awesome preparation and help for the GPhC exam and great opportunities for socialising and networking with other trainees and specialist pharmacists. The Programme Delivery team were very supportive and gave us opportunities to meet lots of new people.”
“The UEA study programme was pitched at the right level and focussed on applying our knowledge in scenarios and workshops. I appreciated all the clinical sessions delivered by specialist expert pharmacists. We had the chance to ask questions and learn more than just the basics for each topic. They were very interactive, dynamic sessions that made it easier to learn and process the information provided.”
